Listen to a new leak from Kodak Black & Yo Gotti called “Weatherman.”
In case you missed it, Kodak Black was released from jail on a $100,000 bail on December 1st, and returned to the music scene last week with his new release “There He Go.” Now with a rumored mixtape on the way, another song from Kodak has surfaced online tonight with Yo Gotti called “Weatherman,” and as we reported over the weekend, a video was just shot for it which featured Black Youngsta as well (but unfortunately he’s not on the audio here).
No word yet as for where this record will end up, but seeing how the song’s description is promoting Gotti’s CM9 album & Gotti’s handling all the verses, it could very easily be seeing life on that. Either way, we’ll gladly take it though.
Wale delivers yet another terrific record with “Black Is Gold,” a four-minute track that could earn some serious radio play. You can watch the new visual up top.
You may recognize the instrumental, which is taken from D’Angelo’s classic song “Lady” from the 1995 album Brown Sugar. Wale does the beat justice by applying a pinpoint flow and a heartfelt message. “Black is beautiful, baby, black is bold,” Ralph spits on the hook. “Black is black, true, but black is gold.”
The DMV artist shouts out various black women on verse two, including Kenyan-Mexican actress Lupita Nyong’o. “Look, hey miss Lupita/Hope you know you inspired the future women for us,” Wale raps. “Don’t know your vibe really, just know that your mother Kenyan/Just know that that melanin mesmerizin’ in every picture.”
You can listen to “Black Is Gold” above via SoundCloud. No word on if the track will appear on a project, but there’s a chance it could end up on Folarin’s next album, S.H.I.N.E. (Still Here Ignoring Negative Energy).
Hardcore Wale fans might notice the song title’s resemblance to another Folarin track, 2010’s “Black & Gold” from his More About Nothing mixtape. While the content of the two songs have pretty much nothing in common, it’s still interesting to note the similar song titles.
In other Wale-related news, it appears the MMG rapper has a collaboration with Lil Wayne coming soon, and the song is slated to appear on Ralph’s fifth studio album.
As for non-album cuts, Wale recently dropped a video for “Folarin Like,” a freestyle over Nas’ classic “Nas Is Like” instrumental, as well as “Groundhog Day,” a response to J. Cole’s second verse on “False Prophets.”
Big Sean shares the colorful video for “Bounce Back.”
Big Sean’s “Bounce Back” has already made a dent on the Hot 100, and now that the vibrant video has been released it should continue its ascent up the charts. The stylish video features Sean rapping with a desert sunset behind him, as well as atop a cliff. Meanwhile some colorful imagery comes interspersed among the shots of Sean.
On top of his impending new solo album, Sean has announced that a new project with his rumored girlfriend Jhene Aiko is also on the way. The two perform under the TWENTY88 moniker and released an EP earlier this year.
O.T. Genasis and T.I. team up for the “Get Racks” video.
O.T. Genasis came through with his Coke N Butter mixtape last month, and once again, he’s put together a few potential hits this time around. “Get Racks” is built off of the same infectious repetition as his very effective “Cut It,” enlisting the savvy voice of T.I. for the menacingly catchy track. The new video for the track doubles down on the darkness of its subject matter, as OT and his crew brutally interrogate a man in a back room. The video ends strangely abruptly, before the song is even over. Watch the whole thing above and check out OT’s mixtape on here. Trusting Your Intuition DOWNLOAD VIDEO: O.T.
